I used to organize and work as counselor at camps and noticed as the years went on people had less knowledge, organizational ability, and problem solving skills. It is like since the 70s it has slowly been sucked out of everyone and people are unable to even function without someone else telling them what to do. Sad.

It is great they did it, I guess, and were able to see and know once again how great their life and experiences are in comparison, but wow.

Your kids are awesome and inspiring. My guys are younger still, but I look to families like yours and see how amazing your kids are and it just makes me happy. :)denisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07063730445661683331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8537804131900093649.post-74487365302155386032011-08-23T10:18:05.354-04:002011-08-23T10:18:05.354-04:00Thank you for such a great article showing how uns...Thank you for such a great article showing how unschooling really works. Your kids sound fantastic! My 10 year old had a camp experience this year and it was horrible! She definitely could have used an Olivia to help out. :)Bevhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15382237078205477594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8537804131900093649.post-459064492261453602011-08-23T09:06:05.390-04:002011-08-23T09:06:05.390-04:00Whoa, that's crazy! Isn't that ILLEGAL for an adult to criticize a minor so when they do not have responsibility over them?
As for Adam, I'm glad he was smart enough to bring up King of Corn in Nature Ed. That's a great movie:) Shame everyone was giving him a hard time...

I tried to be a CIT one year, but I was really frazzled:/ (I'm not too good with kids) Glad that Olivia did well:)

As for the food on the camp trip, who forgets FOOD? I always thought that was pretty important, but I guess that others think otherwise...

I think kids and many adults that attend public schools just don't understand unschooling. I ran into similar problems at the two-week resident (sleep-away) camp I attended this summer. But then the main offender voiced that, apparently in her world, pineapples grow on vines in the jungle. After that, I gave her a brief lesson in Taxonomy:)

By the way, this is Olivia's friend, Haley:) Hi!

Well, I hope overall that your summer was great and full of opportunity! The Insolitus Lupushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00004623854093760677noreply@blogger.com
