Unschooling: Learning By Living

Unschooling: Olivia works on her draft for New Moon Magazine For Girls. It's a piece about unschooling.

Unschooling: Sunday night sleepovers with your BFF.

Unschooling: Adam asks for a knitting lesson from our friend, Monica during the homeschool knitting group.

Unschooling: Olivia gets pointers from her friends on knitting.

Unschooling: We met the knitting group at the North Star Cafe in Portland.

Unschooling: And we had a little time in the snow-covered city.

Unschooling: Ice skating with friends in the early afternoon.

Unschooling: moments with no photos. Chores, reading, Wii, learning html for your blog, the new Legos Robotics class, choir, homeschool writing class, knitting, drawing, writing, dancing, being with one another, having time to think, to be, to explore. Unschooling = living. Living = learning. This was our week, not yet over. This is our life.

  4. So nice to encapsulate things! I tend to forget sometimes, all the valuable learning we really do accomplish over our days filled with what may seem like just this 'n that.

  7. I'm realizing more and more that what we do here at home is much more unschooling than homeschooling...aah labels schmabels. It is refreshing to see another family put their trust in the inherent ability to learn through/whilst living. What an enjoyable read.
