Busy Bees

We spent our long weekend painting our diningroom. As this was the first room to be painted almost eight years ago when we moved into this house, it was definitely showing wear and tear. We decided to keep it green, but we did go with a more avocado green that feels a bit more current and modern to us, and we love it. Of course now I'm in the middle of trying to freshen the space overall by finding new homes for things, purging some and well, let's be honest, dreaming of a giant shopping trip here, here or here or here. I'll live, honest, and as much as I'd like to pull a Jeannie head nod, I can wait.



While we worked, the kids stayed busy as well. We were nearby if they had questions and we laughed and simply enjoyed each other's company. It was a simple weekend, but we feel like we got much done, so it was good. I love it when we're busy and working along side each other--it just feels right and so full of love and homeiness. I'm proud of the kids, too. They are so self-directed and conscientious about thier work, it's fabulous.



Thinking of unschooling, here's a shout out to a few of my favorite unschooling real life and blog friends out there who continue to inspire and keep me sane in those moments when I need it most: Tiffani, Tara, Amanda, Denise, Anet, Molly, and Diane, big hugs and kisses, and my thanks.

Though I haven't finished reorganizing the diningroom yet, I did decide to house my pottery collection in this cabinet, along with my tablecloth collection. And what is it about new paint that suddenly makes one a minimalist? Right now I feel like I could live forever without art on the walls, but we know that's not going to last.



Quick--I must tidy a bit, the family will be home soon and then we're off to get some last apples on this cold autum day (thankfully our work two years ago to insulate this house has paid off and our home is a toasty 69F still, while it's in the 40Fs outside--these projects pay off, you know!) Here's to being joyfully busy!
