Yule: First Day

With six days until Solstice, I found myself revising to-do lists: lists for making and shopping to complete, and mostly, tidying, organizing and well, deep cleaning the kitchen. Not only is it more pleasant to work in an organized kitchen (even if it is oh so full of *useful and beloved items), but it it also easier. To have everything at hand, to have ingredients shopped for (this task Alex kindly completed after getting home from work) and out, ready to use, well, that is a most pleasant thing, in this space where we will be spending enormous amounts of time in coming days, baking and cooking. You could say it is even a little Yuletide gift to myself and my family; this keeping of home.

*note: I've been getting questions about our funky silicone spatulas. Ours came from a local kitchen store, and the brand is RSVP Tango, available on-line at various places. Try here.

  1. LOVING those patterned spoons in the 3rd pic down. Wherever did you find those? :)

  2. Hey, Melissa! I believe those came from a local kitchen shop called LeRoux. I looked at their site for you to see if I could find those particular spatulas, but could not. Their stores are jammed packed with items, however. I unfortunately, do not recall the brand. If I find out, I'll let you know. Many thanks!
